Training Weedend a Warm Success

The CADS Weekend Training was a complete success and we were graced with one of the mildest weekends in many years. We have a great group of volunteer instructors this year and they are ready and exited to start the season. The season starts Wednesday Jan. 11 at 7:00pm, but we ask that you show up at about 6:30 to help get oriented on the first night.

We would like to thank our volunteer instructors for attending and our senior instructions for teaching the sessions. A special Thank You to Thom Griffith from Calgary who taught our snowboarders and our ski school director Andreas Doneuar for planning a great weekend.

Three options are being offered for the 2011-2012 skiing season.

  • Learn to Ski program is for participants who would like to learn how to sit-ski or stand ski.  These participants will be provided volunteer assistance when needed with the goal to become as independent as possible.
  • Learn to Train program is for participants who are independent and wish to become competitive with the sport.
  • Active for Life program is for participants with limited mobility who would like to get out and enjoy the outdoors in the winter. Volunteer assistance will be provided as needed to help navigate the trails on a sit-ski.

Edmonton Ski and Snowboard Show

show

CADS was happy to be part of the show on Oct. 29 and 30th at the Edmonton Expo Center – Northlands Hall B. Whether you’re a skier or snow boarder, one thing we can all agree on is that the Edmonton Ski & Snowboard Show is definitely the place to start your winter season!

The Edmonton Ski Club was back this year hosting the Edmonton Ski Club Winter Sports Equipment Sale (formerly known as the Swap n’ Sale).

showWe would like to thank our CADS volunteers who manned the booth during both days and also helped with other duties at the show, like handing out tickets or guarding the museum exhibits. We were able to talk to several show participants and introduce them to CADS and what we are all about.
